University of Florida, English Language Institute, One of the oldest and most experienced English Language programs in the U.S., the ELI is located in the beautiful urban forest of Gainesville, Florida. Established in 1955, the ELI offers a rigorous intensive English curriculum designed to prepare students to enter an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a U.S. university.

Founded in 1853, the University of Florida is the state's oldest, largest, and most comprehensive institution of higher learning. The 2,000-acre campus is home to over 46,000 students in more than 100 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate programs. UF's sports teams, The Gators, are a source of enormous pride. This year both the men's basketball team and football team are the National Champions.

The primary mission of the ELI-UF is to prepare international students for study at the undergraduate or graduate levels. Students are required to speak English at all times. Highly qualified instructors will teach students to read university-level materials, write academic papers and exams, speak fluently in formal and informal settings, take notes and timed, objective tests.

As a student of the ELI-UF, you will take 23 contact hours or core classes weekly in Reading/Writing, Speaking/Listening, and Grammar. Classes are small, averaging 12 students. There are additional elective courses available for those who qualify, and all full time students can take the free institutional TOEFL at the end of each term.

The ELI-UF is dedicated to students. We provide housing assistance and academic advisement. The ELI-UF will also keep you busy with fun activities in the Cultural Immersion Program. Bath Spa University, Bath Spa University can trace its origins back to 1898. Facilities
International students are given the chance to stay on campus (if they apply early) or in homestay accommodation. All campus accommodation is self-catering with cookers, microwaves and fridge-freezers provided in all kitchens. Many rooms have views over the beautiful parkland surroundings. Art and design students at Sion Hill campus can live in an historical converted Georgian terrace, Somerset Place, near the city centre.

Newton Park campus, where all courses and subjects except art and design are located, is a spectacular parkland estate. The campus has its own lakes, nature reserve, woods and farmland, along with numerous historic buildings. A frequent bus service takes students right into the city centre. There is a modern library, there are lecture theatres, laboratories as well as 2 performing arts venues, one of which opened in October 2006.

In the Students’ Union (SU) building is the SU office, a large bar and common room, a bookshop, stationery shop and general shop – which won a prize for best university shop in 2003.

What's taught on the course?
Input sessions comprise lesson observation, teaching approaches, methodology, principles of and practice in teaching grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, error correction and skills teaching. Trainees are taught how to use resources such as textbooks, supplementary materials and audio visual aids.

What are the acceptance requirements?
Entry requirements are at the discretion of the Course Director. Every candidate completes a pre-interview English task and then meets with one of our tutors. Edenz prides itself on a pass rate averaging 95% per annum and so you can be sure that if you are accepted, we know you can do it !

Trinity requires a minimum age of eighteen at the time of entry to the course. Non-natives need a minimum IELTS ( or equivalent) score of 7.5 or to have studied a degree in an English speaking country.

How long does the course take?
We offer three types of courses with different levels of intensity:

Full-time Intensive: This comprises an average of 9 hours per day at the Edenz Campus , Monday to Friday for four weeks, plus self directed learning. Trainees are required to study the Distance Learning Manual before the course starts. Your Trinity Certificate is couriered to Edenz from London three to four weeks after the course.

Intensive 10 weeks (6 weeks home study, 4 weeks full time on site) : This course is for trainees who are seeking student loan assistance and enroll in both the Trinity Certificate in TESOL and the NZQA Approved Certificate in TESOL . The course includes the full-time intensive (above) plus additional assignments required for the NZQA Approved Certificate in TESOL .

The first six weeks of the course comprises home study. Trainees will complete the Distance Learning Module as well as an assignment and exercises based on the texts ''How to Teach English'' by Jeremy Harmer and Oxford Practise Grammar. These will be marked and discussed during the on site portion of the course (weeks 7 to 10 from 9am – 6pm Mon-Fri). Tutors are also available during the first six weeks for discussion on any problem areas with the exercises.

Please note there is no additional course fee to complete both Certificates, however the two texts required do need to be purchased. (see Fees and Dates)
Semi-Intensive 12 week (3 weeks home study, 9 weeks on site) : The first three weeks are by way of self directed learning at home, studying the Distance Learning module. General English course: focus on four main areas:speaking, listening, reading and writing to develop communication skills and confidence in using the English language. Students can study in just the mornings (Intensive 20) or all day (Intensive 30).

Academic Year programme: aimed at student studying for longer than 24 weeks. ACCOMMODATION
Homestay: the school offers two grades of host family: standard and superior. Standard homestay accommodation provides a single room with a study desk or table, breakfast and evening meal, all meals at weekends, bathroom facilities shared with the family, light laundry and all bed linen and towels. No other students speaking the same mother tongue will stay in the family at the same time unless by special request.
Superior host family accommmodation includes all of the above but provides more comfortable accommodation, furnished to a higher standard. There are a limited number of each which can offer private bathroom facilities for a supplements.

Hotels: there are a number of hotels which we can recommend locally.

SOCIAL PROGRAMME
A weekly programme is offered throughout the year with a minumum of two evening activities per week and one full day excursions every weekend. During July and August, there are extra optional afternoon and evening activities organised.

Activities include international evenings, pub evenings, discos, indoor swimming, bowling and coastal walks. Excursions include trips to Cornwall, Wales and London, the Georgian city of Bath, Plymouth and Exeter as well as the famous local moorland - Dartmoor.
