We are located in the heart of Auckland City. There are hundreds of cafes, restaurants, cinemas, and other entertainment to choose from.
Major bus routes pass through the area, and the train and ferry terminals are a short walking distance away.

Our General English, or ESOL programme (incl. IELTS preparation classes) is a great place to accomplish all of these objectives - offering high quality English tuition and internationally experienced English teachers who are skilled in modern methods of ESL teaching, and care about each individual student.

Background
Edenz Colleges and Victoria University (Melbourne, Australia) set up the first diploma course in 2000. The original Diploma of Business (previously called Diploma of Commerce, at NZQA Level 5) has become the most popular course at Edenz Colleges. Added to the Diploma of Business are the Level 6 Diploma of Business Development and Diplomas of e-Business (at Levels 5 and 6).

Staffing
All tutors are qualified with considerable teaching experience, and many with industry backgrounds.

Qualifications
These courses are NZQA approved and recognized by a number of other tertiary providers in New Zealand as well as VU in Australia. Because the programme is run in partnership with Victoria University (Australia), and students are registered with VU, the graduation ceremony includes representatives from VU, who award a VU Diploma. However, with changing market conditions we expect to begin to teach the New Zealand Diploma of Business in July 2006. Students will be able to gain an Edenz level 5 Diploma after a year, and on NZDB level 6 after a further 6 months.

The Certificate in TESOL from Trinity is an initial teaching training qualification which will enable you to teach English to people whose first language is not English. This course is internationally recognised and accredited by Trinity College London.

What's taught on the course?
Input sessions comprise lesson observation, teaching approaches, methodology, principles of and practice in teaching grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, error correction and skills teaching. Lesson preparation, teaching practice and feedback constitute the practical component of the course. Trainees are taught how to use resources such as textbooks, supplementary materials and audio visual aids.

What are the acceptance requirements?
Entry requirements are at the discretion of the Course Director. Every candidate completes a pre-interview English task and then meets with one of our tutors. Edenz prides itself on a pass rate averaging 95% per annum and so you can be sure that if you are accepted, we know you can do it !

Trinity requires a minimum age of eighteen at the time of entry to the course. Non-natives need a minimum IELTS ( or equivalent) score of 7.5 or to have studied a degree in an English speaking country.

How long does the course take?
We offer three types of courses with different levels of intensity:

Full-time Intensive: This comprises an average of 9 hours per day at the Edenz Campus , Monday to Friday for four weeks, plus self directed learning. Trainees are required to study the Distance Learning Manual before the course starts. Your Trinity Certificate is couriered to Edenz from London three to four weeks after the course.

Intensive 10 weeks (6 weeks home study, 4 weeks full time on site) : This course is for trainees who are seeking student loan assistance and enroll in both the Trinity Certificate in TESOL and the NZQA Approved Certificate in TESOL . The course includes the full-time intensive (above) plus additional assignments required for the NZQA Approved Certificate in TESOL .

The first six weeks of the course comprises home study. Trainees will complete the Distance Learning Module as well as an assignment and exercises based on the texts ''How to Teach English'' by Jeremy Harmer and Oxford Practise Grammar. These will be marked and discussed during the on site portion of the course (weeks 7 to 10 from 9am – 6pm Mon-Fri). Tutors are also available during the first six weeks for discussion on any problem areas with the exercises.

Please note there is no additional course fee to complete both Certificates, however the two texts required do need to be purchased. (see Fees and Dates)
Semi-Intensive 12 week (3 weeks home study, 9 weeks on site) : The first three weeks are by way of self directed learning at home, studying the Distance Learning module. During week 4 the on site course components begin and are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 1.00- 6.30 pm . Your Trinity Certificate is couriered to Edenz from London three to four weeks after the course.

As with the 10 week course, trainees wishing to receive a student loan must also be enrolled in the NZQA Approved Certificate in TESOL and complete additional assignments and exercises which will be marked and discussed in class

Semi-intensive 14 week: Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.00 - 8.30pm and Teaching Practice takes place from 9.00am - 2.00pm on Saturday mornings. Trainees are required to study the Distance Learning Manual before the course starts.
